Newborn photoshoots are incredibly popular at my studio, Marie Myers Photography (based in Bromsgrove), but I always tell parents there are so many incredible milestones along your baby’s first year.
Why not capture them all with our first year photoshoots?
After all, these will always be some of the most precious moments in your life… they deserve more than a few phone images!
PREGNANCY PHOTOSHOOTS: CAPTURE YOUR BUMP!
So many mums contact me for a pregnancy photoshoot but are also scared about being photographed when their body is going through such an incredible transformation.
And that is exactly why it’s important that you trust your photographer: pregnancy portraits are not just a matter of having the right equipment.
Capturing the dramatics of your body in a way that will make you fall in love with your images is also about creating an environment where you can relax and have time and that “safe space” so important for you to feel at home.
The best time for a pregnancy photo shoot is between 30-35 weeks when your pregnancy bump will be lovely and round.
I have specially made maternity dresses for you to be photographed in, and you can also bring a few plain outfits that you are comfortable in. Your partner or husband is always welcome to join the session too, at no extra cost.
NEWBORN BABY PHOTOSHOOTS
Is there anything more perfect than a tiny brand new baby, only a few days old?
Newborn photoshoots are truly special.
Capturing those incredibly precious details and beautiful curly poses for your family to treasure forever is the best job in the world!
Newborn babies are best photographed within the first 3 weeks of life, and to ensure the session is a relaxing and safe experience for baby (and the entire family) I follow a baby-led approach: from feeding to snuggles, to choosing the best poses and props, I will constantly adapt my workflow to your beautiful tiny one.
Knowing only a small percentage of babies are due on their due date, you might be tempted to wait until baby is born before booking your session.
However, getting in touch in advance ensures we have plenty of time to discuss styling and to secure your date: to ensure we have enough flexibility for early/late babies we only open a few dates a month for newborn bookings.
You can expect your session (that can be secured for only £49) to last between 2 to 3 hours, allowing us to create a beautiful gallery of images, and don’t worry: the studio is equipped with everything we need (including coffee and tea!) to make your session a relaxing, pleasant, and memorable experience.

OLDER BABIES: SIT UP AND GIGGLES
The “sitting up” stage is a wonderful age when babies are full of smiles and start interacting more with the world around them!
We aim to get these images before they are crawling so we can still pose them in props.
These “Sit up and Giggles” sessions (around 1 hour) can be booked for only £49, they are incredibly fun and perfect for capturing your little one’s personality and expressions.
CAKE SMASH AND SPLASH: FUN, FROSTING, PHOTOSHOOT
Celebrate their special Birthday with a cake ‘smash and splash’ session.
Plan the session for just before their Birthday so that you have the opportunity of using the professional photos for invitations or just after as a thank you card. These sessions are always fun and are a parents’ favourite not only because they are FUN, but they are also a 3-in-1 session!
We’ll start off your cake smash with a few simple portraits against your setup, to show your little one’s birthday finery in all its glory!
This will also help us get the baby comfortable and ready for some… cake fun!
This is always a fun part – when the cake arrives, some babies dive straight in, while some take some encouragement to start tasting and playing. And that’s totally fine, they can make as much or as little mess as they want to while we capture some more portraits!
And if you are worried about sugar or simply want to explore some alternatives, jelly and fruit can also be used to create some beautiful images… and an amazing mess!
Now after the cake, it’s time for a quick clear up and for some… BUBBLES!
Yes, because all our cake smashes also include a “splash”.
These images are taken using a special baby-sized white tin bath – which makes for some fantastic images and lots of splashy fun!
