If you have ever known the joy of a 4-legged friend staring at you as you enjoy your favourite cookies… you certainly know what I mean if I say that a dog is part of your family from the moment they walk through your door for the first time.
And as such, you might love the idea of having the little (or not so little) fluff included in your session.
… but is it safe? And is it a possibility at all?
Well, at Marie Myers Photography it certainly is!
Dogs and babies: a little note
First things first, a little note.
Dogs are not all the same. Breed, age, how socialised a dog is and how well they respond to commands are all elements we will discuss as soon as you let me know you are interested in including your furry friend in your family, or baby session.
Dogs and babies: the magic of composites
Safety is paramount when it comes to photographing babies and newborns, and it is obviously even more so when an animal takes part to the session.
What you might not know is that to ensure the highest level of safety we can create composite images – meaning taking separate photos of the baby and the dog and then merge them together in the editing phase via Photoshoot.
To do this, I would normally prepare the scene with the setup we want to use for baby. Then, we might start by photographing baby only, then your puppy on its own in the same setup (see below!)
And with a little bit of magic, this would be the end result:
Newborns and… older babies!
This technique can be equally used for newborns and slightly older babies… and for more than one puppy!
