After our blog posts on books to read during pregnancy… let’s talk pregnancy apps!
A quick look at Apple’s App Store or Google store is all you need to realise how many options are available, and it’s easy to feel overwhelmed. So here is a list of our top 4 pregnancy apps available right now.
Best Pregnancy Tracker: Ovia
The Ovia Pregnant Tracker has great standard features that you’ll find in many pregnancy trackers but with some fun twists!
Choose a theme for fetal size comparisons, so instead of an exhausted root vegetable, you can picture your growing baby as a delicious croissant or a ukulele.
Try the “My Baby Names” feature to scroll through thousands of names and avoid saddling your newborn with a moniker that 15 others in his/her kindergarten class are gonna have!
The food safety, medication and symptoms tool is a handy reference guide.
The customizable health tracker can synch up to your Apple watch to keep track of health information like blood pressure and weight, so you’ll be ready to rock and roll at your next doctor’s appointment!

Baby Center
Baby Center all-in one pregnancy app goes from tracking ovulation to counting contractions and details on everything in between.
You get weekly updates about your stage of pregnancy and resources including articles, slideshoows and videos on topics relevent to what you’re going through week by week – and includes special content and info for high risk pregnancies.
With Baby Center you can also take pictures o your growing bump to create an pregnancy journal and search the Baby Names Database by meaning or theme to fnd a name you like.
Once you give birth, the App will automatically switch over to providing you parenting advice for baby’s first year.

Best Fertility Tracker: Glow
The Glow App scored high marks because its capabilities are fairly broad. Eve by Glow tracks menstruation, Glow helps you monitor conception, Glow Nurture can help you through pregnancy, and Glow Baby is perfect for tracking after birth.
As a fertility tracker, Eve by Glow uses the Fertility Log and Periostat Tracker to help you pinpoint ovulation and identify fertile days. There’s also a daily health log to record the rest of your bodily functions, which makes some of the app’s data collection and predictions more reliable.
Glow also provides health insights and lets you sync the app with your mate, so you don‘t have to give him a wink and a nod when it’s about time to get busy.

Best Sleep Tracker: Huckleberry
Huckleberry offers many useful features for tracking your baby aside from monitoring their sleep, although it does that really well.
The free version of this pregnancy app tracks:
- Sleep
- Breastfeeding
- Bottles
- Nappies
- Pumping
- Solids
- Growth
- Medication
- Temperatures
Huckleberry gives you also a little recap of all of the data from your baby’s first year.
Paid versions of the app can be purchased with monthly or annual subscriptions and get you features like customised sleep plans and access to “Sweet Spot” – a tool that helps you pinpoint times when baby is ready to sleep.
Cost: Free with in-app purchases
Available for: iOS and Android

Best Contraction Timer: Full Term
The last thing anyone wants during labor is to deal the absolute rodeo of timing contractions to figure when it’s time to head to the hospital
Finally, there‘s an app to take away the guesswork and helps to keep tracks of times and intervals, so you can focus on taking those breaths you practiced so rigurously in your childbirth education classes.
